Future launches kids magazines

Future Publishing has announced plans to create a children's division.

The move will start with two launches in September, The Jetix Magazine and The Official Duel Masters.

Both launches are edited by former Laptop magazine editor, Cavan Scott.

Deputy editor Richard Owen and senior editor Mike Goldsmith will join Scott in the new division's editorial team.

Goldsmith said: “By creating our own dedicated team Future is taking its entry into the kids sector very seriously”. He added that the launches marked “a solid start in the sector, with further announcements to come”.

The Jetix Magazine will be an official title based around the Jetix brand, formerly Fox Kids TV.

The Jetix Magazine will launch on 9 September and will feature posters, puzzles, competitions, comic strips and fun features based on the former Fox Kids TV channel shows.

The 52-page monthly title will also include a cover-mounted DVD, which will feature episodes of Jetix shows with movie and video games trailers. The disk can also be used in a PC and will feature kids' game demos and content for young PC users.

Future will also launch The Official Duel Masters Magazine on 23 September. It is based on a popular Japanese toy which is due to launch in the UK. The magazine will include card trading games, comic books, video games and animated TV programmes.
