Business editor to leave Economist

The Economist's business editor Gideon Rachman is to leave the publication at the end of June.

Rachman, who joined The Economist in 1991 as deputy US editor, will join the Financial Times as associate editor and chief foreign affairs columnist.

Before becoming business editor in 2005, Rachman had been an EU correspondent, Asia editor and Britain editor.

Tom Standage, currently technology editor at The Economist, will replace Rachman as business editor.

It is not yet known who will take over from Standage as technology editor.
