Linda Saigol of the Financial Times has been appointed European mergers and acquisitions correspondent.
Saigol was previously the FT's investment banking correspondent.
The Wall Street Journal Europe's Alan Friedman, global economics correspondent, is to write a regular column about European and global economy. The column will include coverage from economic events such as the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meeting, G8 Summits and the World Economics Forum.
The Scotsman's Scottish government editor, David Scott has retired after 35 years with the paper. He has become freelance and has a fixed contract with magazine Public Finance. Education correspondent Andrew Denholm has replaced Scott. Seonag Mackinnon, education editor will taken on Denholm's role.
The Times newspaper is launching a weekly guide to London life, The Knowledge, on Saturday 5 July. It will provide entertainment listings, restaurant and shopping reviews and guides to events for families. The editor is former Time Out editor Dominic Wells.
